1. The American Revolutionary War is Over
The American Revolutionary War ended on April 15, 1783, after the ratification of the Peace Treaty. The American war of independence began in 1775, beginning with the conflict between the United Kingdom of Great Britain and the United States which was only then established.
The conflict then became a global war. The war was won by the United States thanks to the intervention of other powers. Meanwhile, the parties involved in the war from the American camp, namely, France, Spain, to the Netherlands.
While Britain, assisted by Prussian or German troops, Onondaga, Mohawk, Cayuga, Senega, and Cherokee.
2. Abraham Lincoln Died
On April 15, 1865, United States 16th President Abraham Lincoln was killed after a day earlier collapsed was shot by John Wilkes Booth, a showman, while watching a performance at the Ford Theater in Washington.
Lincoln has served as president since 4 April 1861. He is known as a leader who maintains national unity and abolished slavery. Its name is now enshrined on US aircraft carriers.
3. The sinking of the Titanic
RMS Titanic is a British super passenger ship that sank in the North Atlantic Ocean on April 15, 1912, after crashing into an iceberg. The ship sank in its first voyage from Southampton, England to New York City, United States.
The sinking of Titanic resulted in 1,514 people killed. The tragedy is one of the deadliest maritime disasters in history. Titanic is the largest ship in the world at that time.
One of three Olympic-class ocean vessels is operated by White Star Line. This ship was built in 1909 to 1911 by the Harland and Wolff shipyard in Belfast. This ship is capable of carrying 2,224 passengers.
The sinking story of Titanic was then filmed directed by James Cameron. The film, played by Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet, won many awards.
4. The first use of insulin for diabetes
On April 15, 1923, this type of insulin drug was first used generally to treat diabetes. Insulin is used in the treatment of several types of diabetes mellitus.
Patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus depend on exogenous insulin (injected under the skin / subcutaneously) for their safety because of the absolute deficiency of the hormone, patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus have low levels of insulin production or insulin resistance, and sometimes require insulin regulation if other treatments not enough to regulate blood glucose levels.
5. Arab Revolt
April 15, 1936, was the first day of Arab mutiny in Palestine. The Arab uprising in Palestine that occurred until 1939 was an Arab uprising against British colonial rule and massive immigration of Jews in Palestine.
According to data from Britain, British soldiers and police killed around 2,000 Arabs in battle, 108 were hanged, and 961 people were killed for alleged "terrorist activity".
6. The worst floods in the United States
The United States on April 15, 1927, was hit by the worst flooding. The disaster happened in Mississippi. Floods that occurred after 18 hours of heavy rain killed 250 people. The disaster was claimed to be the worst flooding in US history.
7. North Korea shoots a US plane
North Korea and the United States were involved in intense conflicts between countries. One example occurred on April 15, 1969. The North Korean authorities shot down planes from the United States in the Sea of Japan. As a result of the incident, 31 passengers died.
8. Shooting in Timika
The shooting in Timika, Irian Jaya (present-day Papua) on 15 April 1996 by a Kopassus member. Second Lieutenant Sanurip killed 16 people and injured 10 others. The death toll consisted of three Kopassus officers, eight ABRI officers, and five civilians.
The shooting occurred when Sanurip was assigned to guarantee the release of 11 hostages from the Free Papua Organization. He fired indiscriminately with automatic weapons at people near an army-operated aircraft hangar.
Sanurip was then sentenced to death on April 23, 1997.
9. Air China plane crashed
On April 15, 2002, Air China Boeing 767-200 flight number CA129 crashed in Pusan, South Korea, killing 128 passengers. The accident was allegedly due to thick fog and heavy rain that hit Pusan as the plane flew from Beijing to Pusan. The plane crashed while turning to make a second landing.
10. Suicide bombing in Cirebon
A suicide bomb exploded during Friday prayers at the At-Taqwa Mosque, Cirebon, West Java, on April 15, 20. One suicide bomber at the Cirebon Mapolresta complex mosque was killed and 28 injured, including the then National Police Chief, Herukoco AKBP.
