This long war was recorded to have claimed a large number of victims. An estimated 2 to 4 million people have died as a result of war, famine, and disease.

Rio de Janeiro is rated as the fourth largest city in the world. In 2012, Rio de Janeiro and the Carioca landscape were designated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

Indonesian troops seized and reoccupied Yogyakarta, the capital of the Republic of Indonesia, which was once controlled by Dutch troops. The incident was known as the March 1 General Offensive.
It was a massive attack planned and prepared by the highest ranks of the military in the Third Division / GM III region, with several civilian government leaders included.
This attack is to prove to the international community that Indonesia still exists and is strong enough, so that it can strengthen Indonesia's position in ongoing negotiations at the UN Security Council.

PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk was established. One of the State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) was formed on March 1, 1978, after the first toll road in Indonesia, the Jakarta-Bogor Toll Road was completed.
Jasa Marga, the first toll road company in Indonesia, currently manages 76 percent of the total length of toll roads in the country.
