The world is looking forward to when a vaccine for the coronavirus can be available because until now, there is no cure. Bill Gates, who is active in charity in the health sector, expressed his prediction.
The founder of Microsoft said a vaccine that was approved to treat corona sufferers would be available within the next 18 months provided that all the processes went well.
In a question and answer on the Reddit forum, Gates leaked that various organizations were working to make the first coronavirus vaccine. If it can be produced, the vaccine will initially be intended for medical workers before going to the general population.
"The first vaccine will be given to health workers and those who are important. This could happen before the next 18 months if everything goes well," he said, quoted by Business Insider.
The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation itself is one of the supporters of the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations, an institution that funds scientists to find the coronavirus vaccine.
Bill Gates estimates are appropriate for a number of authorities. Anthony Fauci, head of the National Institutes of Health in the United States, said the vaccine would be available in 12 to 18 months.
"We have to make a lot of manufactures for different approaches because they know some will not succeed. Vaccines need trials to ensure they are effective and safe," he said.
